Girls' Generation is the 2011 top selling foreign artist in Japan

It was revealed on Oricon's website that Girls' Generation was the top selling foreign artist in 2011 in Japan. The group sold the most album with their 1st self-titled Japanese album, selling over 700,000 copies in 2011 (not including 2012 sales), and accumulating a sales profit of 2.9 billion yen. 


KARA comes in 2nd with their 2nd Japanese album "Super Girl" with 2.0 billion yen. 

According to Oricon's yearly report, K-Pop artists overall raked in 22.5 billion yen last year, a 22.3% increase from 2010. 

Many Korean artists made their debut or continued promotional activities last year in Japan such as 2PM, Jang Geunsuk, SHINee, BEAST and more, and saw a fairly good response.
