Earlier today, it was reported that Gummy was awarded the "K-Pop New Artist" at the 2011 Billboard Music Awards in Japan. Fellow Korean artists TVXQ and T-ara were also recognized in the ceremony and were awarded as "Top Pop Artists".
TVXQ and T-ara received the award and joined other artists, such as AKB48, JUJU and Avril Lavigne. The ceremony was held at the Tokyo Midtown Hall in Japan on March 3.
Last September, T-ara made their Japanese debut with the single "Bo Peep Bo Peep" and is currently promoting their new single "Roly Poly", which was released February 29. Meanwhile, after their successful arena tour, TVXQ is also set to embark on more promotions as they release their new single "Still" on March 14.
Billboard Japan Music Awards was established back in 2009 and the winners for such were based on fans' votes through mobile phones and the Internet.
