The arrest of Open World Entertainment's CEO Jang Seokwoo has brought about reactions of shock and surprise throughout the company. After being charged with counts of sexual harassment, assault, and rape against his company's own trainees, the CEO has created a troubling situation for the remaining managers and artists of Open World Entertainment. Furthermore, rumors that Jang Seokwoo was involved in the KARA disbandment issue of 2011 has also damaged his reputation amongst other managers.
However, in addition to those working under the company, many managers of artists throughout the Korean music industry are concerned that the public image of their positions is being tarnished by the disgraceful acts of one person. One official was quoted saying, "I’m sorry that because of the despicable acts of a few managers, other managers are also getting fingers pointed at them. Everyone is especially dumbfounded that Jang Seokwoo, who was the senior adviser of the Young Producers’ Association, has been involved in a rape case. They’re sad and heavy at heart that managers may be treated like social evils."
What do you think of the industry's reaction to this incident?
