Earlier today, Korea held its 1st Music Copyright awards and handed out various awards throughout the entire evening. One of the most important ones, the "Hallyu Award" also received its first owner.
Boy group Supernova was the lucky group to receive this year's "Hallyu Award" for all their effort in their career outside of Korea. The group started its overseas career in Japan with the release of three consecutive releases in September 2009. Their 12th and 13th Japanese singles "Meki Love" and "Kimi dake wa hanasanai" were revealed last August, and were followed up with a full length album, "4U," in early October. Apart from their early releases, all of their singles and albums have been consistently achieving spots in the Oricon's top 5 when they are released.
Last week the group also received a prize on Japan's Best Dresser Awards by Men's Fashion Unity, as K-Pop's Best Dressed group next to girl group KARA. While the group's leader recently enlisted in the army, the other Supernova members are taking on various acting roles in both Japan and Korea. The full group is gearing up for further promotions as a pop group as well, with a hinted Korean release around February or March next year.
The award show's association remarked that the ceremony itself was rather unique, as it is unlike any other award show and awards singers, songwriters, and composers for all their work on music in various genres.
The event, which was supported the Ministry of Culture as well as KB Citizen Bank, had the participation of many different artists such as SHINee, Supernova, PSY, Lee Seunghan, Homme, DJ DOC, Park Sangcheol, Baek Jiyeong, Seol Undo, and Jangyeop. Well known composers Jo Yeongsu and Bang Shiyuk also attended the event.
