Big Bang wins "Worldwide Act" award at MTV Europe Music Awards

After having been reported to be on their way to Belfast earlier this week, Big Bang finally made its appearance on MTV's Europe Music Awards earlier tonight.

Just minutes ago the group beat out the other contestants and took home the trophy for best "Worldwide Act". The group thanked their fans in Korean and English, and were happy with their unexpected win.

G-Dragon added, "We are called Big Bang from South Korea and we would truly like to thank everyone, especially our VIP. Thank you!" as well as a short shoutout to their Korean fans in Korean. "In Korea they call us Big Bang. I'm happy to meet you. This award is from our fans so I feel happier to receive it. I would like to thank the VIPs again and this time around we will work hard on the music and Korean music and take care of us. We are Big Bang."

Earlier in September, Big Bang was revealed to be nominated for the "World Wide Act Asia Pacific" category. After a few weeks of voting, the group managed to get the top votes and ended up with another nomination to represent the "Asia Pacific" in the "World Wide Act" category next to acts from all of the world. 

Just a few moments before their win, Big Bang also managed to get to the top spot in the Twitter categories of the awards show, by having the most retweets and mentions. They beat multiple popular stars such as Selena Gomez, Justin Bieber and Lady Gaga.
