Girls’ Generation and Lee Seunggi are the endorsement queens and king of 2011

With the growing popularity of idols in Korea, many artists and groups have been given endorsement opportunities. This not only benefits the brands that the idols are endorsing, but it also gives the idols more exposure to the general public on a regular basis. Recently, Korea’s biggest CF website, TVCF, released information on the number of endorsements for the idols in 2011.

Girls’ Generation topped the chart with 27 endorsements, with CFs for fashion, camera, and others. The nine members are popular throughout Asia – not only are they well known, but they also have a very young average age, and thus are loved by the advertisers. Sources revealed that each endorsement for Girls’ Generation brings in revenues of approximately $688,000 USD, thus generating a total revenue of approximately $18,576,000 USD with 27 endorsements.

The runner-up goes to Lee Seunggi. Lee Seunggi is regarded as an all-round celebrity with his MCing, singing, and acting careers. Combined this with his image of being the boy next door, he was able to beat out other strong contenders, such as Won Bin and Hyun Bin, with 27 endorsements, including appliances, cosmetics, and fried chicken CFs, which earned him approximately $16,170,000 USD.
