Korea's National Assembly Election took place today on April 11th, and several K-Pop idols were eligible to cast their vote for the first time. Citizens with birthdays from June 3rd, 1991, to April 11th, 1993, became able to participate in the elections. During the last election period, idols such as Girls' Generation's Sunny and Yoona, SHINee's Onew and Jonghyun, and 2PM's Chansung and Wooyoung voted for the first time. 

Pictures of idol singer Hyuna with a short-haired male at a cafe recently surfaced on an online community on January 11th. Titled, "Photo of Hyuna on a date," the thread contained pictures of the taken of the two as they ordered drinks at a cafe.

Hyuna can be seen with no make-up and dressed in casual wear, looking extremely comfortable next to a guy in a cap. However, upon closer inspection, the guy turned out to be f(x) member Amber, who can usually be seen sporting a short hairdo and androgynous clothes.

Netizens commented, "Amber? They look good together... they are really good friends," "She was so delicate looking when I first saw her...," and "What a twist."

Meanwhile, Hyuna wrapped up "Trouble Maker" promotions with BEAST's Hyunseung last week.

Hyuna and Hyunseung revealed their unit group mini album, "Trouble Maker," on December 1, 2011. "Trouble Maker" climbed to the top of the charts instantly and battled artists like IU for the number 1 spot for multiple weeks. Trouble Maker won three consecutive weeks in a row on M! Countdown, proving their success with their track "Trouble Maker."

After five weeks of promoting the track on the live music shows, Cube Entertainment announced on January 5th that Hyuna and Hyunseung would be ending their "Trouble Maker" promotions with their last performance on the January 8th episode of Inkigayo due to 4minute and BEAST's upcoming activities that are scheduled for them.

On December 9th, SPIN Magazine released an article online crowning the 20 top songs of the year 2011. Adele's "Rolling In The Deep" took the #1 spot, but surprisingly, 4minute's Hyuna's solo single, "Bubble Pop", appeared on the list at the ninth spot. "Bubble Pop" was the only Korean song to make the chart and the only song not recorded in the English language. The song topped such American hits as LMFAO's "Party Rock Anthem" and Britney Spears' "Til The World Ends".

Hyuna released "Bubble Pop", her second solo single, this summer, and is currently promoting "Trouble Maker" along with labelmate Hyunseung from BEAST. She previously appeared on Billboard's "21 Under 21" chart, and her company, Cube Entertainment, has also received international attention, holding concerts in Tokyo, London, and Brazil.

Ever wonder how Hyuna manages to look ultra-sexy and sultry during her performances? 

In a recent meeting with enews, Hyuna laughed and said, “My sexy image comes from my eye makeup. When I wash off my makeup, the [sexy] image goes away. My makeup artist praised me that my face ‘is worth making up’, because just one line changes my entire image. My makeup artist always adds ′although it’s not a pretty face’, though.”



“I think because I go onstage all made up with my makeup and costume, people think I look ‘sexy’. I think I’m better than others at expressing myself because I learned how to dance since I was nine, but my group members who know what I’m really like say I’m cute no matter how much I try to be sexy,” she added.

About the controversies on her suggestive dance which arise whenever she starts a new set of promotions, Hyuna just stated that she’s thankful for the attention, saying, “I just think it’s amazing. I don’t wonder why this only happens to me. I just think I’m a person that receives a lot of attention. I realized that a lot of people are still interested in me even though it’s been three years since I made my debut.”

Also, about being called the next Lee Hyori, she said, “Lee Hyori is a wall I can’t jump over. That I’m being compared to her is an honor in itself, but on the other hand I feel a lot of pressure.”


The performance unit Trouble Maker became an issue for its surprise kiss performance at the 2011 Mnet Asian Music Awards, and also for its shocking dance performance for its new single Trouble Maker.

The songs from the unit’s album ranked high on music sites soon after its release, and the Trouble Maker music video, which was revealed through the unit’s official Youtube channel, blew through 2.7 million views in just five days.
