FT Island, SHINee, Super Junior, and more in this week's Oricon Rankings

As earlier revealed, SHINee's "Sherlock" got to the second spot in the Oricon daily charts for their first day, selling 28,045 copies. JYJ Junsu's twin brother JUNO made it to the 16th place with his newest single "Everything".

KARA made an appearance on Japanese entertainment show "Hey Hey Hey", where the producers ranked them number one on a list of "Favourite Karaoke Songs After the 1990's".

Girl group KARA has launched their first perfume, KARA 5 JEWEL or K5J. They are the first Korean girl group to launch a fragrance line, and they have released a special site for the product, www.kara5jewel.com.

In today's Oricon daily single rankings, The Boss took a 3rd spot with their 5th Japanese single release "Jumping". The song sold 7,864 copies and went ahead of 2NE1's "Scream", which landed on a 6th place.

KPOP-INFORMATION !!! the World Music Festival in Okinawa will be held on March 4th


On the 4th of February at the Serura Stadium, the World Music Festival in Okinawa will be held. Part 1 will consist of the Oh Jun Sung drama concert and part 2 will be Kpop special Live 2012 concert. Part 1 will consist of OST songs from some of Oh Jun Sung's popular dramas; such as Boys Before Flowers, Prosecutor Princess, City Hunter, etc. Part 2 will have performances from KARA, 2PM, Infinite, Secret, ZE:A, Rainbow, etc.

KARA's "Speed Up" Japanese MV released

Following the release of their video teasers for "Speed Up" and "Girls Power" along with news of their Japanese single, KARA revealed the full music video for their track "Speed Up". Continuing their Japanese promotions with the release of their 6th Japanese single, announcement of their new release was confirmed through their official site on February 28.

KARA announces concert dates for Japan for "KARASIA" tour

KARA recently kicked off their 1st Asia tour in Seoul last week, attracting over 9,000 local and international fans, and is preparing for their Japan leg of the tour soon. The official dates for their Japan tour was announced via their Japanese website on February 21st.

KARA completes first concert tour in South Korea

KARA successfully kicked off their Asian tour which marked their first concert since their debut. On February 18th and 19th, KARA held their first exclusive concert, "KARASIA," at Seoul's Olympic Park Gymnastic Stadium which was attended by thousands of their fans.

KARA, Kim Hyunjoong, CNBLUE and more in the monthly Oricon rankings for January


Earlier this week, Japan's Oricon revealed the full lists of January's sales, including various releases by k-pop groups. 

In the monthly single ranking, Kim Hyunjoong takes home the top spot for a Korean artists, having sold 109,055 copies of his Japanese debut single "Kiss Kiss/Lucky Guy" and getting to a 4th place in the rankings. CNBLUE's "Where You Are" follows closely with 60,398 copies cold, on the 8th spot. A little bit further down the list, at number 13, we find 2AM's debut single "Never Let You Go ~Shinde mo hanasanai~ which sold 29,292 copies. With 14,437 units of their latest single sold, After School managed to get to the 42th spot, closing the list for Korean artists' releases in Japan.

Kara Members Show Off Their Beauty

We all know that Goo Hara is pretty, but she wowed the crowd with her doll-like looks and perfect figure at a Japanese awards show. 

Kara was chosen as the winner of the ‘international category’ at the 2011 Best Dresser Awards, held in Tokyo on November 30. The group’s Goo Hara, Nicole, and Park Gyuri attended the ceremony, showing off their beautiful looks. After the ceremony, a herd of entertainment news outlets rushed over to cover the three girls. 

Park gave off her elegant and sexy vibe, donning a spangled long dress while Nicole kept it classy in a black and white dress. 





Goo Hara wore a glittering pink top with an unbalanced see-through skirt. She especially caught eyes with her sharper jaw line and beautiful looks. 

Meanwhile, Kara will be performing at the NHK′s 62nd music special Red & White Song Battle , Japan’s top year-end show, on December 31 along with Girls’ Generation and TVXQ.

Girls’ Generation Beats Kara on Japanese Annual Album Sales Chart

Girls’ Generation has topped Tower Records Japan’s year-end 2011 K-Pop Chart in album sales. 

The 2011 chart rankings were revealed on Tower Records Japan’s official website on December 5, and it ranks records from 37 genres of music, from Western and Japanese music to classic and jazz, that were released in the year before November 30. .


According to the results, Girls’ Generation’s Girls’ Generation stole the top spot, while Super Junior’s Mr. Simple ranked second and Kara’s Girl Talk came in third. Girls’ Generation made another notable appearance on the chart with trackThe Boys, which came in at number four on the chart.

Girls’ Generation also ranked high on Yahoo Japan’s 2011 keyword search ranking chart. In the ‘Celebrity Composite Ranking’ category, the girls ranked third, following closely behind girl group AKB and Japanese idol group Arashi. In the ‘Foreigner Ranking’ category, Girls’ Generation stole the number one spot, beating out famous pop stars and hallyu stars alike.

The girls will take the stage alongside Kara and TVXQ at the 62nd NHK Kohaku Uta Gassen,Japan’s biggest end-of-the-year music festival, on December 31.

TVXQ, KARA, Girls' Generation officially invited to Japan's "Kohaku Uta Gassen"

Earlier this week, we reported that idol groups TVXQ, KARA, and Girls' Generation were rumored to receive invitations to Japanese year-end program "Kohaku Uta Gassen", a great honor for both Japanese and Korean artists. Rumors also surfaced of Jang Geunsuk, Supernova, SHINee, and 2PM receiving invitations, heightening the anticipation of many K-Pop fans. 

NHK, the network behind the annual program, released the final lineup on their website on November 30th, confirming that TVXQ will make a third appearance on "Kohaku" and KARA and Girls' Generation their first. In addition, Sankei Sports reported that KARA will collaborate with a young Japanese singer, Ashida Mana, during the program. Due to Japanese laws preventing minors from appearing on television after 9PM, Korean publications are speculating that they will open the show, but this has yet to be confirmed. 

"KARA's devoted fan Ashida Mana begged during the Guest List Press Conference on November 30th, 'I would like to dance with KARA'," the site reported. "Kara's leader Gyuri who was there replied, 'We want to perform with Ashida Mana too'". 

"Kohaku Uta Gassen" will be broadcast in Japan on December 31st. Well-known Japanese artists invited include AKB48, Arashi, and L'Arc~En~Ciel.
